The Vermont Wayfinders’ Guide to 2026: What to Do When You’re Not on Tour

A one-day journey with Vermont Wayfinders is designed to give you a deep, local connection to the Green Mountain State. But since most of our guests spend several days exploring our corner of New England, we want to make sure your entire trip is unforgettable.

Whether you are joining us for a history-packed afternoon or a scenic discovery tour, here is our curated list of what you might like to experience on the days before or after your tour in 2026.

❄️ Winter & Spring

Curds & Curling (February 7, 2026 – Greensboro) This is Vermont at its most wonderfully weird. Sample artisan cheeses from Jasper Hill Farm, then watch (or join!) a curling match played with actual wheels of cheese. It's exactly the kind of thing that makes this state so special.

The Zero Celsius Conversation (January 8 - April 23, 2026 – Waitsfield) Mad River Valley Arts hosts this thoughtful exhibition exploring the history and future of Vermont winters. Perfect for visitors who love a little culture with their scenery.

Vermont Maple Festival (April 24-26, 2026 – St. Albans) The town transforms into maple heaven for three days of tastings, demonstrations, and the legendary sugar-on-snow. If you've never experienced warm maple syrup poured over fresh snow, you're in for a treat.

☀️ Summer

Quechee Balloon Festival (June 19-21, 2026) There's something magical about watching hot air balloons rise over Quechee Gorge at dawn. Spend your morning mesmerized by the launch, then explore the artisan vendors and live music.

Vermont Brewers Festival (July 17-18, 2026 – Burlington) The Burlington waterfront comes alive with craft beer from across the state. It's a wonderful way to celebrate Vermont's thriving brewing scene and toast to your travels.

Vermont Blueberry Festival (July 31-August 9, 2026) The Vermont Blueberry Festival celebrates local agriculture, community and the arts with a 10 day Festival spread throughout Deerfield Valley. (Dover, Wilmington area). Events include a Street Fair, Circus performances, a Teddy Bear Picnic, live music on Harriman Reservoir, and a Block Party!

🍂 Autumn

Tunbridge World's Fair (September 17-20, 2026) This agricultural fair has been running for over 150 years, and stepping onto the grounds feels like traveling back in time. Pair it with a foliage drive for the quintessential Vermont autumn day.
