Private guided tours: FAQs
A few things you may want to know before we head out. If you don't find your answer here, send me a message.
How much do private tours cost?
2027 pricing:
Applicable taxes are additional. Pricing is per private tour, not per person.
How do I book a tour?
Select an available date and submit a tour request. I'll follow up personally to confirm the date, talk through your plans and send an invoice.
Don't see a date that works for you? Send me a message and I'll see what I can do.
Do you offer tours for solo travelers?
Yes! I’m very happy to take solo travelers out for the day.
Because my standard pricing is based on a private tour rather than a per-person rate, I know the full tour price can be a lot for one person. If you're traveling solo, reach out through my Contact Us form and let me know what you're looking for. I may have options that make more sense for a party of one.
Where will you pick me up? What time do we get started?
Please take a look at the map. If you're in the highlighted area, you're good! If you're close to the highlighted area, send me a note so we can discuss.
Vermont Wayfinders private tour pickup area.
Barnard, Pomfret, Hartford, Hartland, Quechee, Woodstock, Bridgewater, Killington, Plymouth, Reading, West Windsor, Windsor, Weathersfield, Cavendish, Ludlow, Chester, Springfield, Grafton and Rockingham.
I usually get started around 10am and wrap up around 4:30pm for a full-day tour. I'll confirm a pickup time with you before your tour.
Where will we go for our tour?
My private guided tours have fully customized routes and stops. We'll discuss what you'd like to see and do before your tour, to ensure the route, the pace and the places we visit are all aligned to what you want to see and do.
I also adjust along the way. Weather changes, places get busy, roads get interesting and sometimes something worth stopping for appears when we weren't expecting it.
How many people can join a tour?
My tours are designed for small, private groups. Up to 4 guests can ride in the Bronco, plus me as your guide and driver.
Just a heads-up: the back seat can feel a bit snug if all four guests are larger adults, so if comfort is a top priority, you may want to consider a group of 2 or 3 instead.
Is lunch included?
Lunch is not included in the tour price, but I plan time for it during full-day tours.
Depending on our route and what you prefer, we might stop at a restaurant, café, market or another good spot along the way. Food, drinks, admission fees, tastings and purchases are separate unless your specific tour description says otherwise.
Can I propose, surprise someone or celebrate something on the tour?
Oooh! I love a fun surprise.
If you're planning a proposal, birthday, anniversary or another celebration, let me know ahead of time. I can help with things like choosing the right setting, timing the stop and working the celebration into the day.
If you have something specific in mind, contact me before your tour so we can coordinate.
What should I wear? What should I bring with me?
If the weather is nice, we may be traveling with the top down on the Bronco, unless you request otherwise.
Wear sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat, and dress in layers. Vermont weather has opinions.
Bring a water bottle, too. We'll make stops along the way for food and restroom breaks.
Comfortable shoes are a good idea, but you don't need hiking gear unless we've specifically planned something that calls for it.
What if it rains or is cold?
My tours operate in all kinds of Vermont weather.
If it's raining or chilly, I'll keep the top on the Bronco so we stay dry and warm. We can also change up some stops if the weather is going to dampen the original plan.
Don't worry, I have plenty of ideas for alternative things to do so we can still make the most of your day.
If conditions are unsafe for driving, I'll contact you directly.
Can I bring my dog?
I love dogs, and all animals! But I don't allow dogs or other pets on my private guided tours.
Of course, if you have a service animal, please reach out to me before your tour so I can make sure the vehicle setup will work comfortably and safely for everyone.
Will we be going off-road?
While off-roading is a lot of fun, that's not what these tours are about.
We will spend plenty of time on Vermont's dirt and back roads. Some can be narrow, bumpy or a little rough, and I choose roads based on current conditions and the kind of day we're planning.
If you're looking for an extreme off-road adventure, this isn't that. If you're concerned about your physical comfort when driving, and probably bouncing a little, on back roads, please let me know. I'm happy to make the tour as comfortable as possible.
Will my kids enjoy the tour?
My private guided tours are designed for adults looking to enjoy a relaxed, immersive experience. Younger kids likely aren't going to have much fun spending several hours sightseeing from the Bronco.
For safety and comfort, tours are not suitable for children who require car seats, and I do not provide child safety seats.
Older teens who enjoy scenic drives, sightseeing and exploring Vermont may be a better fit.
Do you ever do weekday tours?
Yes! But you'll need to coordinate with me directly for that. Reach out via our Contact Us form and let me know when you'd like to tour and I'll see what I can do to make it happen.
Other questions?
Please send me a note. I'd love to hear from you and will respond as quickly as I can, usually within a few hours if I'm not out on tour.
