Why I don’t do bus tours

I’ve been asked a few times already this spring if I’d work as a step-on guide for various Vermont bus tours.

The answer is always the same: no thank you.

That’s not because there’s anything wrong with bus tours. They can be a great fit for folks that want an easy, structured way to see some of the highlights of Vermont. They do serve a purpose.

It’s just not the kind of Vermont experience I want to be part of.

I built Vermont Wayfinders around a more authentic version of Vermont. The one that is found exploring back roads, quiet towns, scenic pull-offs not marked on any map, and places that just don’t work especially well for a large bus and a fixed group schedule.

For me, the road is part of the experience. Vermont is not about checking off a list of a few popular stops. It is about the slower scenic drive, the unexpected views, the tucked-away general store, the fun detours, and the feeling you get away from the hustle of everyday life.

That is much easier to share with you in my Bronco.

My tours are built for travelers who want a more personal, custom-paced day. I like being able to adjust the route, shift with the weather, follow what feels most interesting, and create a day that feels thoughtful rather than… packaged.

So no, I do not do Vermont bus tours.

Vermont Wayfinders is built for back roads. Want to join me?
